Mallaig Harbour Authority

Business Description

The long established and busy fishing and ferry port underwent a major expansion in July 1998 with the completion of a £7m Outer Breakwater and Land Reclamation Project. It provides a deep water berthing facility for the fishing fleet as well as back up land for essential services.

A new Auction Hall for selling whitefish was completed in January 2007 and a new ice plant has been constructed in the Outer Basin. A fuel storage and delivery facility has also been built in this location allowing the fishing fleet 24 hour acces to fuel.

Salmon processors Marine Harvest are now established at the port via the construction of a harvesting station in the Outer Harbour area. This is serviced by well boats who deliver fresh salmon to the station on a daily basis.
