AST Marine Sciences is a wholly owned division of Applied Satellite Technology (AST) supplying bespoke VMS, communications and tracking solutions to the fishing industry.

Since 2004 AST Marine Sciences has managed the VMS contract on behalf of the UK Fishing Authorities responding to terminal failures and instigating repairs in a timely manner as soon as possible to enable the fishermen to continue fishing as soon as possible.

We also supply a complete end-to-end tracking solution for both marine and land based applications. This is currently being used in a number of government and private projects where accurate and prompt position reports are required.

AST Marine Sciences supplies an Electronic Logbook application, e-Catch, in anticipation of new EU legislation requiring fishing vessels to electronically report catch information before returning to port.

As part of Applied Satellite Technology we also supply a range of marine satellite communications solutions providing telephone, email and internet connectivity services. Fleet Broadband provides voice and data connection up to 432kbps whilst Iridium OpenPort provides internet connectivity and 3 telephone lines with global coverage.
